Service

About me
Service is an essential way for me to be involved in something larger than my teaching and research. It fosters my engagement with my senior colleagues, allows me to contribute to the success of our institution, and creates a community of trust in shared aims. It enriches each day with new challenges, perspectives, and solutions. While at CSI, I have served on various college-wide committees and search committees inside and outside my department. For a year I served as the coordinator of the economics program, which was a great opportunity for me to learn the curriculum of the department and to communicate with full- and part-time faculty. I represented the department at many college events, such as the Dean’s List ceremony and undergraduate open houses. It is a great satisfaction for me to the see growth and happiness of our students, and I feel I had some part in helping them along.  Outside CSI, I served as a Ph.D. dissertation committee member at the CUNY Graduate Center. I also served as (1) a referee for peer-reviewed economic journals, (2) a referee for the different grant proposal competitions, (3) a referee for a Master‘s Thesis and a Ph.D. dissertation, and (4) a referee for the high school student research competition. Since Fall 2019, I chair the Economics and Political Science Panel at the PSC-CUNY Research Award Program; in this role I oversee a panel of economists and political scientists from different CUNY colleges and together we make decision on internal grant proposals from entire university in areas of economics and political science. I have discovered so much from working with others, and I look forward to expanding my service role in the future.
